Sing became a hit in 2016. Since then a sequel has been on the cards. Now, Sing 2 is here. It has taken 5 years but the wait will be worth it. All old favorites are reprising their roles. A new story and a bunch of new songs to entertain you feature in the movie. Sing 2 has fans flocking to movie theatres.
While Garth Jennings is the director and writer, Christophe Lourdelet is the co-director. The story of Sing 2 picks up just from where the previous film ended with the group trying to enlist a rockstar to perform with them.
In case you are wondering is Sing on Disney Plus or where to watch it then you have come to the right place. In this article, we are going to tell you if you can watch Sing 2 on Disney Plus. So, let's proceed.
Sing 2 is not available on Disney Plus for streaming, irrespective of it being one of the top OTT platforms across the world.
It is not possible to license every movie or TV show for one platform and every platform has a unique collection of titles for example Disney Plus streams most of the Disney feature movies and Marvel movies along with some originals.
Sing 2 isn't a Disney movie. It has been produced by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures. The latter had signed a deal with Peacock in the US. It started with all of its movies released in 2022.
Thus, the individuals who are subscribing to Peacock will be able to watch the movies just after 45 days after they leave the theatre. It is much less than the traditional 8-9 months wait.
Outside of the United States, Universal has signed a deal with Amazon Prime Video. It enables Amazon to stream the content starting 4 months after the movie's debut on Peacock.
Though new releases on the OTT platform were quite common in the early days of the pandemic, streaming premiers have fallen out. Even though movies, such as Black Widow got Premier Access streaming upon their release, more recent films, such as Eternals and Shang-Cho had been released in theatres, exclusively.
However, it is not like people are not streaming new releases anymore. In 2021, Warner Bros released its movies in both streaming platforms and theatres, including The Matrix Resurrections.
There are still a lot of precedents for new movies to stream. So, when does Sing 2 come out on Disney Plus?
It might be available on some platforms. But whether it will be available on Disney Plus is not known. As of writing, the first Sing isn't available on any major platform. The movies are available on demand through places, such as Prime Video and iTunes.
Thus, Sing 2 is not going to stream anywhere anytime sooner.
The cast of the movie is similar to its prequel and has an ensemble cast of big Hollywood guns.
Matthew McConaughey, the Oscar Winning actor plays the role of Buster Moon, a koala, the owner of the New Moon Theatre, while Reese Witherspoon plays the role of Rosita, the housewife pig who had given up on her music dreams for her family of 25 piglets but now is multitasking between two.
The teenage porcupine punk rock guitarist, Ash, is played by Scarlett Johansson. Johnny, the teenage gorilla is played by Taron Egerton. The gorilla is the pianist and singer after having left the criminal gang of his father.
Meena, the teenage underconfident elephant is managed by Tori Kelly. She has a mesmerizing singing voice. Gunter, the dancer pig is voiced by Nick Kroll.
Darius has been played by Eric Andre. He is an intimidating yak who has been cast opposite Meena for performing a romantic duet. Klaus Kickenlober has been played by Adam Buxton.
Jimmy Crystal, the wolf, and the antagonist have been voiced by Bobby Cannavale. While Hasley voices, Porsha Crystal, the antagonist’s daughter.
These are just the key roles in the movie.
Before you can watch Sing 2 on Disney Plus or some other streaming platform, you can learn about its plot.
Ever since the last movie’s events, the new theatre of Buster is doing well. In an attempt to increase the influence of the movie theatre, he reaches out to Suki Lane who downplays the movie theatre saying it is never going to reach the popular Redshore City.
Encouraged by the family and friends, Buster re-gathers his group including Meena, Rosita, Ash, Darius, Johnny, and Gunter from the last movie along with Nooshy and Klaus to go and give a performance Redshore for proving their mettle.
Jimmy is not interested in their actual audition, thus, Gunter suggests a musical in the theme of space and the idea of including Clay Calloway, the rockstar who has left a mark after the death of his wife 15 years ago.
In the preparation process, multiple roadblocks can keep you from your road to success. Clay takes to be convinced, Rosita develops a fear of heights, Meena cannot channel her emotions of love in the romantic duet as she has not fallen in love, and Porsha Crystal is cast in place of Rosita.
The self-obsession of Darius doesn't help much. Johnny has problems with Porsha and choreographer Klaus is unable to carry out their activities because of a lack of acting prowess.
As she asked to return to her position and take up her small role, she misinterprets it as being fired inviting Jimmy Crystal's hatred who vows to kill Buster, now.
Due to encouragement and sheet will, the team solves one problem at a time. Rosita works on her fear, while Meena falls in love with Alfonso. Meena channels this in her song duet, Prosha is convinced by Miss Crawly to join the crew and Johnny enlists his gang and father’s help to keep the goons of Jimmy at bay.
Johnny is helped by Nooshy with his act of dance and earns the respect of Klaus.
When Clay performs after being encouraged by Ash, the show becomes a huge success. In case Jimmy takes credit for the show, the police arrest him. Buster along with the crew plans on leaving Redshore the following day, Suki tells them about another prime theatre that is interested in the crew.
