I’ve always loved SpongeBob SquarePants. It’s a show I still go back to when I want something light or familiar. Recently, I wanted to download a few episodes to watch during a train ride, but I ran into a problem.
I checked Paramount Plus and saw the download option. I thought it would be simple. But then I realized that you can only download on mobile devices using the official app. There’s no way to download Paramount Plus shows on a laptop. Even on mobile, not every episode is downloadable. Some expire after a few days. And if you’re using the ad-supported plan, the downloads still include ads.
Plan | Offline downloads? | Ad-free? | Price | More Features |
---|---|---|---|---|
Essential | ❌ | ❌ | $7.99/month $59.99/year |

Premium (with SHOWTIME) | ✅ (25-title cap) | ✅ | $12.99/month $119.99/year |

First, it only works on phones and tablets. If you’re on a laptop, there’s no built-in way to download anything. Even on mobile, most videos don’t stay available forever. They usually expire after about a month, or two days once you hit play.
Some shows can’t be downloaded at all, probably due to licensing. And if your plan includes ads, those ads still show up in the downloaded videos, which can be distracting.
Another thing is that the videos are locked inside the app. You can’t move them to another device or copy them elsewhere. Plus, if you want to download a full season, you have to tap each episode one at a time — there’s no option to grab everything at once.
It’s fine if you just need something for a commute or flight, but for saving shows long-term or watching on your laptop, I found it a bit limited.
At first, I tried using the official Paramount Plus app to download shows. Here’s the process in detail:
Open the Paramount Plus app
We can download it only on iOS and Android devices.
Log in to your account
Only subscribers can download, not free trials in some regions.
Browse or search for a title and tap the download icon
You can use the search bar or explore categories. For series, you’ll need to tap the icon on each individual episode, but there is no “download all” button.
Wait for the download to complete
You’ll see a progress circle as the video downloads. Stay connected to Wi-Fi if you want to avoid using mobile data.
Error | What it means | Quick fix |
---|---|---|
6200 | Corrupt or partial file | Clear cache & redownload |
3205 | Playback handshake failed | Update app/OS; toggle Wi-Fi → LTE and back; reboot device |
Region switch | Content geo-locked | Disable VPN or renew after re-sign-in |
I usually watch shows on my laptop, so the download limits in the Paramount Plus app didn’t really work for me. What I really needed was a bit more freedom. I wanted to download Paramount Plus episodes I like, especially SpongeBob, and watch them offline without worrying about internet access or the show suddenly disappearing.
I started using StreamFab Paramount Plus Downloader to save episodes like SpongeBob as MP4 or MKV files on my laptop, instead of taking a bunch of time to record Paramount Plus titles, and it’s been very reliable so far. The best part is that StreamFab works perfectly on both Windows and Mac, so I can watch my downloads anytime without restrictions.
Download the video downloader
Open the StreamFab app and select the Paramount Plus section
Choose the streaming service
Log into my own account through the built-in browser
Customize the file
Play the video I want to save
Click the download button
The download starts automatically as the video plays

By the way, the official Paramount+ app caps your library at 25 stored titles—once you hit that ceiling, you must delete something before another download starts, so your practical daily intake is throttled. By contrast, StreamFab Paramount+ Downloader lets you pull up to 100 fresh videos every 24 hours on a single license. The bar chart above makes the gap obvious: four times the throughput versus the native app.
Want to noticeably improve your downloading and viewing experience with StreamFab? Check out this video—StreamFab Pro Tips: 4 Habits for a Smoother Downloading Experience. The creator summarizes four practical habits — such as keeping a steady download pace, rotating platforms, combining downloads with regular streaming, and gradually warming up new accounts. Applying these small adjustments when using StreamFab can reduce buffering, preserve video quality, and make your viewing history look more natural, resulting in a smoother, more sustainable watching experience.
Only specific shows and movies with the download icon can be downloaded. Not all content is available for download. Unless you use StreamFab instead.
Officially no. Unwatched downloaded content can be stored in the library for 30 days; once playback begins, it is valid for 48 hours and will be automatically deleted after the time limit. But with StreamFab, once I download an episode, it stays on my device as a regular MP4 file without expiration.
A maximum of 25 downloaded videos can be stored across all devices under the same account; if this limit is exceeded, old files must be deleted first.
If the country or region you are accessing has copyright, the content can be viewed normally, but it may also disappear if the copyright expires.
I still use Paramount+ to stream most of the time. But sometimes I just want to keep a few episodes, especially SpongeBob, so I can watch them offline without relying on the internet. Being able to save them myself makes things easier. If you’ve ever tried to figure out how to download Paramount Plus episodes to your laptop, this is the way I’ve been doing it. It’s worked well for me, and I haven’t run into any problems so far.
